South Penn Enduro Riders, OXBO Hare Scrambles

Top 3 overall were Fred Hoess in 1st, Ryan Rodgers in 2nd and Ryan Mcgaha in 3rd. The location for this years Oxbo Hare Scrambles was just outside of Tower City, PA. Conditions for the event was Sunny and temperatures around the mid 60’s. Rider turnout for the event was around 415 riders including youth and peewees. The course was dry and ran in an old coal mining area with a 50/50 split of open and woods areas. Riders commented on how they liked the terrain which was a combination of dirt and rocks. Dust was a problem in the open areas were the sun had a chance to bake the ground , but in the woods it was a different story. Course was fast and fun and from comment at the finish it sounded as though everyone enjoyed the event. This was the first Hare Scrambles ECEA year do to event cancellations early on.

CJCR, Pine Hill Enduro

(We’re waiting on Lord Seppy's race report as well as event results )
Top 3 overall were Wally Palmer in 1st with a 4 point score, Michael Bradway in 2nd with 5 points and Richard Lafferty in 3rd with 5 points. First place Team was TriCounty Sportsmen’s Team Hammer. At the start of the event there was a steady rain falling, but by about 10:30 or 11:00 it had ended. The first loop was primarily dirt roads thru Brendan Byrne State Forest. It was an easy trail ride in the morning with just a couple of checks to keep the riders honest. Then it was back to the camp ground for gas and out into the second loop. The afternoon was a challenging enduro with 30 or more miles of traditional CJCR fire cuts. From there it was back to the finish. After a lengthy scoring and protest period, awards were giving out. All in all the riders enjoyed the event and it was another successive ECEA enduro for the books.

MCI Stumpjumper Enduro,

Top 3 overall were Richard Lafferty in 1st with a 10 point score, Fred Hoess in second with 13 points and Wally Palmer in 3rd with 15 points. First place Team was South Jersey Enduro Riders, FastKidz. MCI Stump Jumper Enduro keeps getting better and better every year and this year was no exception. The morning ran the area around Coyle field that Meteor MC developed years ago , This area was known as a tight demanding section and hasn't changed much sense we abandened it years ago. This year was no exception and the riders really worked hard to staying on time. The Afternoon Loop took you out to Bass River State Forest, around the Munion Field area and ran mostly Fire Cuts. Weather was near perfect and all in all the riders enjoyed the event.

Greenbrier National Enduro,

Top 3 overall were Michael Lafferty in 1st with a 28 point score, Richard Lafferty in second with 40 points and Fred Hoess in 3rd with 42 points. First place Team was South Jersey Enduro Riders, FastKidz. The Tri County Sportsmen went all out this year with the 40th annual Greenbrier enduro. They had the KTM big rig brought in all the way from Ohio and it was there all weekend. Lots of prises and gifts were passed out and it was a real festive all weekend. They even dragged John Penton in (The father of American Enduros). The weather for the event was real nice. The course was traditional Greenbrier and the riders liked it. All riders received a T-shirt at the finish and the club gave out Hyper mountain bikes to a lot of the class overall finishers. Most riders commented that this might of been the best New Jersey run that they had ever run. Great job TriCounty Sportsmen.

(See Wagonwheel Trophy) Ex-National Enduro Champion Michael Lafferty winner of 1991 and 1992 SLE, Ex-National Enduro Champion John Penton winner of 1960, 1962 and 1964 SLE, Richard Lafferty winner of 1996 and 1998 SLE, Charles Stapleford winner of 1977 SLE, Donnie Tomlin winner of 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1992 SLE and Jack Lafferty Jr. winner of 1982, 1983, 1993, 1995 and 1999 SLE. The only thing missing from this phot was the other 40 something other overall Sandy Lane Enduro winners...Hey by the way, why wasn't Freddy Hoess and Aaron Kopp invited to be in the picture? They both had three wins each at SLE.

Ridge Riders Hare Scrambles, (CANCELED).

The Ridge Riders Hare Scrambles did not run due to land problems and the State of New Jersey’s DEP, saying that they had problems with where and where not the course could go. Funny how they can dictate to what can and can't be done on private property. After the person from DEP reviewed the property there wasn’t enough area to layout a quality course. Something about stay away from that plant or that tree and you might disturb that dirt or turn over a that rock. Apparently in a year or two it’s really not going to matter much, because the land that the event was going to use is going to be leveled and turned into an office complex with paved parking lots with storm water runoff. Try to figure that one out?

Meteor Motorcycle Clubs, Sandy Lane Enduro.

Top 3 overall were Michael Bradway in 1st with an 11 point score, Richard Lafferty in 2nd with 12 points and Fred Hoess 3rd with 13 points. First place Team was TriCounty Sportsmen’s Team Hammer. This years event was a 85 mile enduro, laid out by retiring trail boss Dale Freitas with the assistance of Mike Barr. The event again was an all start Control format with checkouts at the end of all the sections. A steady rain had been falling for more than 8 hours as the first riders were preparing to leave the starting line. The first section was easily zeroed by all the fast riders, with A and B riders dropping between 1 and 2 points. After a brief road ride the riders were checked into another section, but because of a mistake with mileage the section had to be thrown out. The third and forth section were again both start controls and most of the fast riders dropped 6 to 8 points in these sections. The riders then went to the midway gas stop for a 30 minute layover. The rain continued to fall and some of the riders requested a short way back to the start. The section right after the gas was another start control with checkout, Fast riders dropped between 1 and 3 points at the checkout. From there it was all fire cuts and roads to the finish with two more start controls and a checkout and known control. At the finish most all the riders commented that the last half was a blast and that they really enjoyed the event. Scoring and protest was done by 4:00 pm and the club pulled off another successful event.

South Jersey Enduro Riders, Curly Furn Enduro

Top 3 over all were Chris Smith in 1st with a 19 point score, Fred Hoess in 2nd with 20 points and Dale Sweigart 3rd with 22 points. First place Team was TriCounty Sportsmen’s Team Hammer. The riders commented that this event was an old style enduro, Where time keeping is always important. Some were concerned about the weather because of the amount of snow that fell over the winter, but those fears were put to rest. Yes, there was some water, but most of it was passable. The afternoon was fast fire cuts and the speed averages kept the riders busy. All and all it was an excellent event and all the riders were heard commenting that they would be back next year.
